There are various accounts of Albert's migration to Nova Scotia.

Born in New York state. Migrated to Nova Scotia after the Revolution about 1785. Died about 90 years old. Married Catherine Grant (b.c 1761) who, with her parents had migrated from New York State to Nova Scotia some time after the revolution. Had a daughter who married a ROLFE.(4).

"The Terhune family is believed to be founded by a Loyalist from New York. It is possible that the first of the name in Nova Scotia accompanied Capt. John Robert Grant (son of Alexander Grant) (b. Sept. 1729, Strathspey, Scotland; d.1790 Loyal Hill, Summerville, Hants Co. NS ) on the transport SS Stafford, Oct 16, 1783. Captain of the 42nd Regiment (Black Watch) who settled with his wife and family at Loyal Hill, Summerville, Hants County NS. John Grant marr. in 1759, Sara Bergen (bca, 1743 dca. 1808 at Loyal Hill, NS)." Albert Terhune was also a member of the 42nd regiment

Catherine Grant Terhune had a brother, Michael Bergen Grant (bca 1760 d. Nov 2, 1817), who married Sophia Elizabeth Nutting (b. Sept 23, 1780, d. 1862) (dau. of John (d. 1799) & Mary (Walton) Nutting ( d. 1831 Loyal Hill, Summerville NS. Walton, NS is named after Mary (Walton) Nutting.(2). Her sister, Letitia, married William Parker and sister Sarah married John Parker.

Albert, Son of Stephen and Letitia (Bergen) Terhune. Married Catherine Grant (b.c 1761/1768-) daughter of John Grant and Sara (Bergen) Grant (dau. of Michael and Catelyntie Bergen) of New York and Newport Township. (also ref. to Springfield, Jamaica Township, Long Island, NY) (2). (Their mothers, Sara & Lettia were sisters)

"Records at the old Windsor Court House state that he was married to Catherine Grant before they left New York State, and that their first child was reported to have been born on ship-board coming over".

In her book "Land of a Loyalist" (1988, Lancelot Press), Edith Mosher relates that "Captain John Grant gave to his son-in-law Albert Terhune a farm lot across the road from the Grant homestead (the Vaughan farm now owned by Frank Cornetti) and the couple lived there for a time before moving farther "up shore" toward Walton and Noel. He had 3 sons & 6 daughters. (8)

In 1810 Albert Terhune petitioned for land and stated that he had a wife and seven children. In a petition in 1819 his family consisted of a wife and eight children.(2). (Perhaps the farm at Kempt Shore, NS was the result of a petition. SJT)
