John TERHUNE (b.c. 1797/1800 d. before 1851) marr. cira. 1823 Lydia MOSHER (bc 1808) of the Kempt Moshers. Ref 31: Lydia Mosher, of Allen, married John Terhune and had the following children-Jehu, John, Allen, and Mary Matilda. (no mention of William or Michael!) Terhune died and Lydia married ------Marshall and had 2 sons and one girl. Esther (bc 1850-), Amos (bc, 1853) see below. 1871 census (28) has Lydia MARSHALL 63 (bc 1608) living with Amos Marshall 18 (bc 1853) in Walton. At this same residence were: Oliver (bc. 1847 sof Stephen & Hannah) and Susan (bc.1850- dof Ezekiel and Elizabeth Marshall ) Biginy/Bigney.. A marriage in July 1872 of Esther Marshall (bc 1850) of Walton to Duncan McLean lists Ezekiel and Lidia (sic) as parents. William J Terhune and Oliver Bigney as witnesses. (ref 29) If Ezekiel is Lydia's second husband then John Terhune must have died before 1850. 1881 census: Lydia Terhune 73 was living with William & Lydia (Brown) Terhune. 1891 census: Lydia Marshall, mother, 83 living with William & Lydia (Brown) Terhune. Family. In 1838 J. Terhune, a carpenter, had a wife, 2 girls and a boy under 6 and one boy over 14. If this family was John & Lydia's, the boy over 14 would have been born when Lydia (bc 1808) was 16. 8 years is also a long time between the first two children so maybe a son of a first wife of John's? i Jehu Terhune (b.c. 1824-) (b. 1836- d. 13 May1850 West Quoddy Head, NS ref 26, no ref given) I have found no other reference to Jeru or Allen Terhune other than (ref 31 pg 8) ii son (bc, 1830) (1842-ref 26, no ref given) Allen? iii daughter (bc. 1830) iv Mary Maria/Martha/Matilda Terhune (b. 4 Oct 1836 Walton NS d. 11 Jul 1928 Point Grey BC) Married 1.
